Super Criticals
"Supercritical" refers to the herbal extraction process that New Chapter uses, yielding a superior herbal extract in a highly concentrated form without the use of solvents. Conventional extraction processes often result in chemical solvent residues, temperature stress, distortion of the delicate chemical constituents of the plant, and, in general, an extract that is unstable. When New Chapter herbs are supercritically extracted, like our organic ginger grown biodynamically on our own estate in Costa Rica, they are not exposed to high heat or toxic chemical solvents. New Chapter has too much respect for the dignity and complex personalities of Mother Nature's precious herbs, so we do not use hexane, acetone, methylene chloride, or other organic chemicals for extraction. Our extraction house in Germany uses naturally occurring carbon dioxide from the Eiffel Mountains. When our select herbs are penetrated by the natural CO2, all the wonderful, healing oils come out with great potency and purity. For example, it takes 250 pounds of organic ginger to yield just 1 pound of supercritical extract. Incredibly potent while still representing the intelligence of the whole herb, these herbs stimulate and balance the physiology.
