| Lemongrass - Cymbopogan citratus This strongly scented tall grass is lemony and herbaceous. It is native to Asia, but now is cultivated in the East and West Indies and Central America. In traditional Indian medicine it was used for fever and infectious illnesses. Lemongrass is stimulating and reviving to mental activity, good for fatigue and clearing confusion. It is a good oil to use for jet lag. For the body, Lemongrass can be used as a tonic, to stimulate recovery from illness, to lower a fever or to stimulate improved digestion in the treatment of colitis, and indigestion. Properties - calming and sedative in small doses and stimulating in larger doses. Blends well with - Lavender, Basil, Cedar, Geranium and is a top note. Precautions - could cause some dermal irritation or sensitization in some people. Use with caution on the skin. |
